ROBERT OSSANT
Author and fashion historian / Luxury specialist
Robert Ossant is a British writer, author and fashion historian specialising in fashion, textile art, embroidery and visual culture.
His work combines academic research with more than a decade of experience in the fashion and creative industries. He spent eight years at the London embroidery house Hand & Lock, working with designers, artists and major fashion houses, before developing a wider career across journalism, commercial writing, research and public speaking. His clients have included Gucci, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta, while his writing has appeared in Vogue, Marie Claire, The Independent and other international publications.
Robert is the author of The Art of Couture Embroidery, an examination of the history, techniques and contemporary practice of embroidery within historic and modern haute couture.
Alongside his writing, Robert lectures on fashion and textile history for museums, universities and cultural organisations. He is based in France and works internationally.
